The Wall
A stone wall is being built in front of the full entrance to the school building. By building that one wall, the entire function of the building is switched off. The function of the building plays a very important role in this intervention. Some of my works contain a form of anarchism. At the basis of this intervention is my disapproval of the educational institutions By building a wall, I wants to shield this rotten place from the rest of the world.
This intervention is very similar to early works by Panamarenko who organized happenings together with Hugo Hermans in the 1960s where they temporarily closed off streets to traffic by building walls in ice.
During these happenings, these gentlemen were arrested several times. Seening this is only a proposal this intervention will not put me in cell block D of Antwerp’s Begijnenstraat.
