‘slugs’ garden’ is an installation that can be visited continuously for three hours, from 7.30 to 10.30 pm on Saturday 11 October and from 3 to 6 pm on Sunday 12 October. So you do not have to come at the given starting time, but can enter the installation when you choose. If a lot of people want to visit it at the same time, it may be that you are asked to wait a while. Once you are in the installation, you can stay as long as you like. The last visitors are allowed in half an hour before the end.

His new project envisaged a re-enactment of a traditional Ecuadorian dance, in collaboration with his friend and compatriot Esteban Donoso. However, the two dancers were soon faced with a dilemma. How do you interpret these dances when you do not have a full knowledge of the culture of the Andes? They decided to take a different tack. In ‘slugs’ garden’, co-produced by deSingel, it is not the visual sense but the tactile experience that plays a central role. In this way, Barba and Donoso give a twist to our western exotic view. In this new production they strive to achieve an experience of time which escapes the chronological, the measurable and the efficient. Their installation, which makes use of the body, will be given its first showing at deSingel following a residence of two weeks. Together with Barba and Donoso, third-year dance students from the Conservatoire will give shape to the garden of the senses. Come and stimulate your sensory feelers!
